Art for joy
By no means am I professional artist. But painting has always been my outlet and my way of decompressing. When immigrating to the U.S., I left almost everyone and everything behind. All I got to bring was my mom, my dad, and my favorite Pelikan gouache palette. I promised myself I would never stop creating. My dream is to have my art at a coffeeshop.

Rodeo Art Contest Win - So I’m in the U.S., struggling to fit in as the kid with a unibrow , admittedly trying too hard to learn English.
During this time, I felt like an outcast. I had a hard time making friends and I struggled so much in reading (Not in math and Science; I was a beast).
But I had art class to save me. And one day I won an excellence award from the Houston Livestock Rodeo Art Contest and I was able to get a groove going!

Abstract surrealism - Throughout my journey, I have always had teachers who believed in me.
One more than the rest, Ms. Nilles - my middle school art teacher. Ms. Nilles was the only person in the whole school who encouraged my self-expression from a young age. Her class was probably the best thing that ever happened to me.

Charcoal Reduction Still Life - In my final year of undergrad, I took a drawing class to prove to myself that I can really “Do it on the side,” a common phrase honed by my father when it comes to creative pursuits. Despite being in a non-majors class, I was surrounded by more detailed, talented artists everyday that I learned so much from.
This was the first time since middle school that I took an art class.
