Safety Bolt: Tool + UI MVP

  • In a team of 6, we interviewed a few individuals to find a problem along with pain points to develop a prototype and pitch deck. We came up with Bolt, a tool that takes the best parts of an AirTag and allows its users to contact authorities with ease. This tool and applications were designed based on our interview with one of my cousins who had recently moved to NYC and experienced safety fears, living in a big metropolitan area for the first time in his 34 years of life.

Our pitch deck and product placed first among 12 other teams.

  • This was one of my first experiences working in a cross-functional group. I did the application design in Figma and prototyped the product on Procreate. I ran my ideas by my team members to gather insights and make tweaks. In this team, I was more of a technical leader where as others worked on financial projections, deep market research, and building the pitch deck.

Vault: Fully-Functional Outfit Authoring Web App

  • In a Human Computer Interactions class, in a team of 4, we were tasked with creating a functional web-authoring app. We created Vault, an application where our users can upload items from their closets and make virtual outfits to visualize them without the hassle of trying on every outfit.

  • I got to explore a more research and brand development angle on this team. I ran experiments to see what our users find easy and what brings up difficulties. In addition, I got to create our branding, authorization, and setting up and making sure Firebase is storing user information and content correctly.

Budgee: Frontend Budget Tracker using SwiftUI

  • To learn SwiftUI, I worked on an expense tracker app using online tutorials.

  • I learned that I'm not really passionate about building something that's already out there; rather I like innovating. It was still very important in helping me acclimate to the Xcode environment and the SwiftUI Syntax.

CalPals: Fully-Functional Event-Scheduling iOS App

  • CalPals draws inspiration from When2Meet and is made to be used by groups who meet on a recurring basis. It was developed in a team of 4 in our iOS class, inspired by our challenges faced as busy college students with many different social circles.

  • While building CalPals, I was mostly responsible for branding, creating the profile, and the Events Home Page.

I worked with a teammate I had worked with before, so this was a pleasant environment to work with as conflicts were addressed and resolved very quickly.

Kismeet: Geo-Location Dating App

  • Pokemon Go meets Tinder meets Yelp meets Instagram, Kismeet is a social media app where you can check-in to the spots you frequent and get an explore page of people who also visit those same spots (check-in spots are hidden until both users request and accept them to be revealed).

This was my take on a modern "Right person right time" and an attempt to address commonly expressed problems with dating apps, in my Cohort of 2024 Forty-Acres Founders Program.

  • I was the sole founder. And I learned that I would've benefited from having a co-founder as it was very hard to manage interviews, R&D, and the business side of running a startup all by myself.

I also learned from interviewing that everyone has ideas of their own as to what improves dating apps.

Overall, dating and human relationships are issues that are far too nuanced to be addressed by a dating app. Perhaps, the issue is better solved by encouraging a more in-person, event-based approach.

Kandoo: Full-stack Social Accountability App (In-progress)

  • Kandoo (Which means behive in Farsi) is a social accountability app. It's a personal project I'm working on.

I aim to make it a space where you and your friends can hold eachother accountable for creating good habits sustainably, while getting rid of bad ones. It's inspired by social medias like BeReal. I want it to be an environment that focuses on improvement in close circles and not worry about validation in dopamine addictive ways.

  • This is a personal project and what Kismeet has evolved to. I am so deeply invested in psychology and self-improvement.

Over the summer, I got really interested in taking up different hobbies. I noticed I pursue them more when I tell my friends. I think there is lots of power in community and accountability.
